WHO WE ARE
Jansen Dance Project was founded in 2003 and is providing highest quality dance and musical theatre training, serving the New Tampa, Wesley Chapel communities and beyond. Founded by Kristen and Troy Jansen, the Jansen Dance Project features the best faculty in the Tampa Bay Area.
TROY JANSEN – ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, C0-OWNER, TAP DIRECTOR
Troy began his training when he was six under the tutelage of Camille Sanfilippo at the Westbury Academy of Dance in Westbury, NY. Professionally he has performed with the Bay Area Dance Co. (director), Columbus Dance Theatre, Atlanta Ballet, Sound F/X Tap Co. (director), Florida Orchestra,Tampa Bay Master Choral, BalletMet Columbus, JazzMet Dance Company, Opera Columbus, the Pan American Games, and with the late-great Frank Sinatra and the Yvonne Parente Theatre Company.
Mr. Jansen has been invited to teach at numerous schools, universities and dance organizations around the country. In addition, Mr. Jansen has choreographed for the Newman Foundation, JazzMet Dance Company, Southeast Chapter of AAA, Bob McGrath of Sesame Street, Chocolate Nutcracker, Collective Soles Dance Co. and various musicals, including Anything Goes, Cabaret, Fiddler On The Roof, The Music Man, Oliver, West Side Story and Once Upon A Mattress for Kent State University. Most recently, Mr. Jansen has choreographed for JDP’s Nutcracker and for his original-copyrighted contemporary production entitled “Goin’ Nuts!”.
Mr. Jansen has an Associate In Arts Degree from Nassau Community College in New York and has been an Adjunct Faculty member at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio; the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL; Youngstown State University in Ohio. Currently, Mr. Jansen is the Artistic Director of the Jansen Dance Project, Executive Director of the Collective Soles Arts Group and an Adjunct Faculty member of Florida Southern College.
KRISTEN JANSEN – EDUCATION DIRECTOR, CO-OWNER, JAZZ DIRECTOR
Kristen was born into dance, growing up under the guidance of her teacher and mother, Joan Seitz. She continued her studies at The Ohio State University and BalletMet Columbus, while simultaneously pursuing and receiving a B.S. degree in Pharmacy. As a professional dancer, Ms. Jansen was a founding member of the JazzMet Dance Company and Sound F/X Tap Co., and performed with BalletMet Columbus, as well as, Opera Columbus.
An accomplished jazz and ballet instructor, Ms. Jansen has been invited to teach at numerous conventions and dance festivals around the country, such as, Dansummer in Crested Butte, Colorado, the Columbus Dance Theatre Ballet Intensive in Ohio and as a guest artist at the Atlanta Ballet Summer Dance Intensive. In addition to her many accomplishments as a professional dancer, teacher and choreographer, Ms. Jansen was inducted in 2007 to the Lakeview, Ohio High School Hall of Fame for her Achievements in Track.
Ms. Jansen and her husband Troy, have three beautiful children, Julia (Senior at Princeton Univeristy), Jacqueline (Freshman at the University of Florida) and Jon (2nd Grade), who are their greatest inspiration.
DELLA RUTH MARSAN – PRIMARY DANCE, CREATIVE MOVEMENT AND ACROBATICS DIRECTOR
Della Marsan is in her eleventh season at Jansen Dance Project where she enjoys teaching Dance, Acrobatics and now Yoga, to students of all ages. Della is a registered Yoga Teacher, and professionally has danced for two seasons at Columbus Dance Theatre under the direction of Tim Veach.
Della received her training at BalletMet Dance Academy in Columbus, Ohio and American Repertory Ballet’s Princeton Ballet School. She has been delighted to perform in numerous contemporary and classical works and work with choreographers such as Troy and Kristen Jansen, Juan Rodriguez, Merry Lynn Morris, Tim Veach, Kennet Oberly, April Berry and Stella Kane. Most recently, Della danced with Shoes At The Door modern dance company and as a founding member of Collective Soles Dance, as well as, starring in the annual CSAG productions of Goin’ Nuts! and the Nutcracker.
AUDREY RICHTER – COLLECTIVE SOLES YOUTH ENSEMBLE AND MODERN DANCE DIRECTOR
Audrey Richter has been teaching dance to students of all levels throughout Central Florida and is in her sixth season as an instructor at the Jansen Dance Project. She is director of Collective Soles Youth Ensemble. Audrey graduated from the University of South Florida with a BFA in Dance Performance. During her time at USF, Audrey danced in numerous faculty pieces as well as works by guest choreographers, Claudia Lavista and Rick McCullough. Audrey also performed in the USF recreation of Bill T. Jones’ Serenade/ The Proposition, Talley Beatty’s Come and Get the Beauty of it Hot and as “The Chosen One” in Doug Varone’s Sacre du Printemps. She has studied and performed internationally in Paris, France; Tunisia, Africa and Montreal, Canada. Audrey has danced professionally with DRIP of Orlando, Florida, Adin & Ferguson Dance Theatre, and most recently as a founding member of Collective Soles Dance.
Audrey is currently an Adjunct Faculty member at Blake High School for the Peforming Arts in Tampa and is an Adjunct Professor at Florida Southern College in Lakeland.
KATHLEEN REILLY-REAU – PREPARATORY BALLET DIRECTOR
ELIZABETH EVANS-FAUST – PREPARATORY MUSICAL THEATRE AND VOICE DIRECTOR
Elizabeth Evans Faust is a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of Career Education, specializing in Dramatic Arts.
In 2018, Elizabeth completed the Morse Teaching Artist Fellowship at The Juilliard School. During the summer of 2019 Elizabeth will study at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute completing her certification in their “Great Music Teaching Framework.” Elizabeth currently uses the Stanislavski Method of Drama to design her curriculum at JDP and received her training in this method at Bellarmine University during her time in Nashville, Tennessee. She has served as an adjudicator, clinician and guest director for festivals of the American Choral Association and the Music Educators National Conference.
Elizabeth is a classically trained vocalist having sung with the Tampa Bay Children’s Choir, Western Kentucky Chamber Choir and Middle Tennessee Chorale. As an undergraduate student in Kentucky she studied under the direction of Beth and Wayne Pope, Dr. Paul Hondorp and Dr. Eva Floyd.
During the day Elizabeth teaches 4th grade language arts and middle school creative arts at Turner Bartels K-8 School in New Tampa. She is a former dance student of Kristen and Troy Jansen, is happily married and the mother of a primary level dancer and musical theatre student at JDP.
